Oliver Carman

Oliver Carman is currently pursuing a PhD in Electroacoustic composition at the NOVARS Research Centre, School of Arts, Histories and Cultures, University of Manchester, U.K.


Research/Compositional Interests

Acousmatic composition – Space in Electroacoustic music - Sound diffusion – Analysis of Electroacoustic works – The music of Francis Dhomont Short biography: Oliver completed his first Degree in Music at the University of Sheffield in 1998. He then went on to complete a Masters Degree in 2004 in electro-acoustic composition at Sheffield under the supervision of Adrian Moore. He is presently working toward a PhD in electro-acoustic composition at the University of Manchester under the supervision of David Berezan, where he is an active member of MANTIS. His work has been performed throughout the and also internationally in Costa Rica ,Brussels and France. Recognition for his work includes 6th INTERNATIONAL COMPUTER MUSIC COMPETITION “Pierre Schaeffer” 2007 (2nd Prize) and Bourges International Electroacoustic Competition (Prix Residence 2007, Selection Trivium Category 2008)
