Mauricio Pauly
Mauricio Pauly (b. 1976 Costa Rica)
Mauricio Pauly's music has been performed by ensembles and soloists including the Ikarus Chamber Players, the
Tres Américas Ensemble, the Studio New Music Moscow, the Juilliard Pierrot Ensemble, the Iturriaga Quartet, the
New York Miniaturist Ensemble, the Ensemble Contemporéneo de Asunción in cities including Boston, New
York, Budapest, Cambridge (UK), San Sebastián (SP), Moscow and San José (CR).
Current committments include a new string quartet for the New York-based Jack Quartet, a solo cello and
electronics piece for Francesco Dillon (Alter Ego, Q. Prometteo), a new piece for the Alea III ensemble in Boston
and a new piece for mandolin and harp for Joe Brent and Bridget Kibbey in New York.
Mauricio has studied in his native San José, Miami, Boston, The Hague (NL) and is currently a PhD candidate at
the University of Manchester (UK). He has attended numerous festivals and conferences including the 2003 Bartok
Festival where he was mentored by Jonathan Harvey, Marco Stroppa, Michael Jarrell and Andrea Szigetvari; the
Music03 Festival with Martin Bresnick and Louis Andriessen, and most recently the Centre Acanthes with Hugues
Dufourt, Bruno Mantovani and Ivan Fedele.
Mauricio is a founding member of the Altavoz Composer´s Ensemble
He is currently studying PhD at the NOVARS Research Centre under the supervision of Dr Ricardo Climent
